Our AimThe core objectives of the Warwickshire County Golf Partnership are as follows:
o To introduce more people to the game regardless of age, gender, background, disability or ethnicity. o To provide opportunities for people to sustain their involvement and to participate regularly in golf. o To make it easier to join a golf club by improving accessibility and affordability. o To sustain/increase the number of members of affiliated golf clubs within the Warwickshire area. o To undertake the training and support of volunteers required to implement a development plan. o To promote and implement standards of good practice in safeguarding children and equity. o To liaise closely with the Partnership member organisations. o To liaise closely with the English Golf Union (EGU), the English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA), the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) and The Golf Foundation. o To support the development of golfing talent by working with the appropriate bodies.
Activities Many resources and funding opportunities exist to support the development of golf. Several of these are not currently accessed by clubs and coaches. The partnership aims to encourage wider access to these funds and in some cases will apply for access in its own right. Through the Warwickshire County Golf Partnership we are also looking forward to working closely with clubs to help them gain their GolfMark status. This is a national scheme that identifies and recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities, for further information please visit www.golfmark.org
The development plan comprises three key elements, Grow, Sustain and Succeed and provides the partnership with a blueprint for the promotion and development of golf in Warwickshire. Grow: The Partnership is committed to supporting national initiatives which encourage more people into the game, particularly targeting under-represented groups to develop the game of golf within the county. Our aim is to increase the number of people participating in golf by 3% by 31 August 2011
Sustain: All golfers should be given the opportunity to continue their involvement in golf for as long as they wish. The Partnership will strive to encourage more people to become regular players through providing sustainable initiatives and programmes that will allow both new and existing golfers to stay within the game. Our aim is the increase the number of active members of affiliated clubs by an average of 15 members per club by 31 August 2011
Succeed : The Partnership is committed to support all golfers within Warwickshire who have the desire to improve their ability by offering support and guidance. Our aim is to ensure that talent in clubs is identified and developed at county level. We will also ensure that promising players who move or undertake higher education out of the area (e.g. USA based universities) are tracked and kept in touch with what is happening within the county. |
